Established in 1967, Northern Pulp manufactures 280,000 tonnes of pulp annually and indirectly supports thousands of jobs throughout Nova Scotia (about 1,700 employments in mill operations such as sawmills). The mill produces 23 megawatts of green energy and as a result is predominantly self-sufficient in energy (generating over 90% of our electricity requirements). Northern Timber carries out sustainable forestry activities on over one million acres of Nova Scotia timberland, planting over 2.5 million trees annually. Northern Pulp and Northern Timber are owned by Northern Resources Nova Scotia Corporation.

Green Project

Northern Pulp is currently moving forward on three very important clean-tech projects through the recent $28 million investment by Natural Resources Canada, the Green Transformation Program Fund and Northern Resources’ capital program. These three projects will significantly enhance the environmental, social and competitive impact of the Mill on its employees, partners and surrounding community.Certification: Sustainable Forestry Initiatives (SFI), ISO 14001(Woodlands), FSC® Controlled Wood and Chain of Custody, PEFCᵀᴹ Chain of Custody, SFI Chain of Custody
